Our Chardonnay's are produced from 100% Dijon clones, grown on the Drouhin Family Estate in the Dundee Hills of Oregon. First planted in 1992, these are among the oldest such vines in the new world and their low yields and early ripening ability have been a perfect match for our climate & soils.
Produced from some of the oldest Dijon clones on our Estate, the Chardonnay is hand-picked, hand-sorted and then pressed whole cluster. The juice was fermented in 100% French Oak barrels to create a round, rich texture. After 11 months in barrel, Véronique selected her favorite barrels, those that were distinct and delicious. The Edition Limitée Chardonnay has a rich texture and great length on the palate. Beautiful and compelling, this cuvée possesses all of the Drouhin hallmarks - elegant and balanced, all with great finesse.
2011 will be remembered as Oregon's latest growing season ever with a cool and wet September turning into a dry and moderately warm October. Harvest lasted into November, allowing for full maturity and excellent flavor develop- ment. By all accounts, 2011 is an exciting year for Chardonnay.
