The concept behind the Louise Drouhin Cuvée is to take our quest for excellence one step further, and produce the finest expression of Pinot Noir we can make by selecting individual barrels of wine in the cellar with the best possible qualities. For the 2001 vintage, eight barrels of wine were selected for a sublime balance of elegance, complexity, and finesse.
Intense, deep, brilliant and dark red color. Opens with pretty floral notes initially, then expands to reveal ripe berries and an intoxicating perfume. Mouth-filling flavors of ripe red and black fruits on the palate, wrapped tightly in a core of silk and velvety tannins. Crushed raspberries and sweet black cherries dominate, flowing into the long, elegant finish. In all, perhaps more complex and complete than the 2000. Decant for one half hour prior to serving to drink upon release, or cellar until 2008-2011 for peak development.
