Only a few magnums remain! Act now, before they disappear. Release Date: January 5, 2007. Winemaking: All of our Pinot Noir is handpicked into 25-pound totes, then hand sorted & de-stemmed at our four-level gravity flow winery. Fermentations are long & careful. By the middle of November, all of our wine was safely in barrel. We use approximately 20% new oak with our Pinot Noir, which allows the character of the wine & vintage to show through. Barrels are custom made for us in Burgundy, using oak from France’s best forests. Our goal is to produce Pinot Noirs with balance, elegance & finesse.
The 2004 Vintage: 2004 has proven to be an exceptional vintage in Oregon. June was relatively cool, but July and August were extraordinarily hot. Mid-August rains were most welcome by the vines. The growing season finished with a near-perfect September and early October, allowing us to pick grapes with excellent flavors and balance.
Véronique’s Tasting Notes: The 2004 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is quintessential Pinot to me: beautiful, soft, feminine, and obviously pleasurable. The color is classic ruby red, and the wine has the medium body I look for. On the nose, the '04 is all cherries and crushed berries. On the palate, the wine is luscious and concentrated, leading to a long finish. I wouldn't hesitate to drink the wine now, but I would be very happy to save several bottles to enjoy over the next 10+ years.
